BTS Map (Skytrain)
The BTS Map below of the skytrain in Bangkok is shown by the green lines below. The BTS has 2 routes: the Mo Chit – On Nut Line [which runs through Sukhumvit Rd] and the National Stadium – Wongwian Yai Line [which runs through Silom]. The blue line below shows the MRT [the underground train]. The two BTS lines intersect at Siam BTS station. The BTS Skytrain and the MRT underground intersect at Asoke [Sukhumvit 21].

The BTS is one of the safest and quickest ways to get around Bangkok. The BTS connects to the main bus terminals at BTS Mo Chit and BTS Ekkamai stations. Mo Chit is the Northern bus terminal and Ekkamai is the Eastern Bus terminal. The new Mo Chit bus station [called Mo Chit 2] can also be accessed from Kampang Phet MRT station. The BTS runs frequently and you often will only have to wait 5 – 10 minutes for a train.

How to Pay for a BTS Skytrain ticket
Unlike train stations in other countries, you cannot purchase single rides at the ticket counter. The ticket counter is used just to change your notes into coins which you can then insert into the machines on the wall. The newer machines accept notes and are in Thai and English.
However, you can use the booth to purchase one day tickets, smart passes and multi-trip tickets.
Once you have your ticket, insert the card into the ticket into the gate and keep hold of it at the other side. If you get off at the wrong stop, don’t worry, just cross the platform and ride the train back to the correct station.
